I applied back in December, and by February I had been accepted. I am curious on why I was accepted so fast when some people, who seem much more qualified are still waiting on their acceptance. Also does A&M prefer Texas residents because that is also a factor. My application:

Did not give a hoot about being an aggie or take any interest in A&M.

Essays: I sorta wrote them the night b4 and just sent them off. Pretty sure they were riddled with grammatical errors.

I have heard that out of 2200 at the College of Science that 1600 are Bio Majors meaning there are only 600 who are in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Could that have been a factor, also if I am wrong about those numbers feel free to tell me.

Then go elsewhere. Why even make this thread? Who Cares why you were accepted in Feb.?

You’re a minority, you’re from texas, you applied before christmas, your ACT scores are above average, and who knows but maybe A&M is in demand for chem majors. Those are your reasons.

I meant “Did not give a hoot about being an aggie or take any interest in A&M.” as in i did not call admissions allot or visit the college or speak to any representatives of A&M I just simply applied. Not that I dislike A&M I mean I already accepted their offer. Besides A&M is a fine school where a huge majority of my friends are. Also my minority status should count for very little as A&M’s admission process is “color blind” meaning officers of admission do not see what race you are when reviewing cases.

while you dont technically qualify for the top 10% admit, you definitely have decent credentials (probably better than a lot of those other top 10%) also you are within the admit range for top 50 schools not sure about top 10 though…

and yeah most top schools outside of texas arent in need of asian minorities but i guess in texas asian is still URM

Thank you ResurgamBell and Gstein. I am just one of those people who loves to know how stuff works or why something happened, so if i sounded petty or wasted anyone’s time I apologize.

Unless your at A&M during the summer/winter break. All I saw were asians. Im sure they were grad students tho and possibley study abroad students.
