Hello,
I am a freshman in high school who is “good” at math (i.e. 760 PSAT Math, 800 Math 1, 800 Math 2, 109.5 AMC 10) and got into both the Honors Summer Math Camp at Texas State and Mathroots at MIT. I was wondering which math program to choose to do over the summer. I acknowledge that Mathroots is way shorter than HSMC (2 weeks vs 6 weeks) and Mathroots is free while HSMC is 3.3k, but I would like to know which program would be better to attend. If I were to go to Mathroots, I would have more time (and money!) to do some AoPS classes and studying to hopefully get USAJMO and USNCO high honors next year. I was wondering if the cost difference is worth going to HSMC for (aka will it pay off in terms of competition scores and content covered). Which program pay off more in becoming a better mathematician once time and money are taken into account? (And it wouldn’t help to know which one would count more towards college admissions).
Or maybe I could kick it and just watch Netflix.
