Which Meal Plan?

I checked out some older posts on this and I've also asked a Penn student I know and it seems like the consensus on meal plan is to go with the Liberty Plan because you can eat outside of the dining halls more often. I was wondering if anyone had any fresh opinions on this or if it's still the way to go.

And I'm a huge eater and don't really have three standard meals a day... so that would probably make Liberty better too because I'd waste my dining hall swipes too often when all I really want is like a quick burger or something. Has anyone ever run out of swipes/dining dollars on their plan? And at that point do you just eat with your own cash?

And how does the meal plan work per semester... like if you don't make all your dining hall visits will they carry over to the next? Or does it go by the entire year?

My sister has Liberty and from what I’ve heard that’s definitely the way to go. When we visited she wanted us to get breakfast from the dining hall because she had a ton of meals to use up.

I’m not sure how rollover works though.

libertyyyyyyyyyyy all the way

dining meals (for dining hall use only) do not carry over

dining dollars (for a la carte options) do carry over from fall to spring

always the smallest/lightest meal plan. always

My son had the Blue Plan this year, and came very close on meals and dining dollars in the fall, but this spring did fine with the meals [has enough left], but I just had to add $50 in dining dollars today to get him through the last two weeks. Liberty might have been better, as it’s more flexible and has more dining dollars. He has a dining hall in his dorm, but the weekend hours are limited, or might not even be open at all, so where you plan to eat might affect how many meals you actually use up as well.
