I am a sophomore in college and recently came across the north face backpacks. I wanted to know which would be good for college
Ask yourself this: do you truly need a backpack from The North Face?
I recommend checking out amazon and looking at the reviews.
It doesn’t have to be a North Face (although they are well made) but you need to look at any backpack and see what has the functionality you want in terms of size, if you want a separate padded section for a laptop etc.
Go to a store and try them out. North Face makes good backpacks, they’re large and sturdy.
If you are willing to consider brands other than North Face, try out the ones at Best Buy. They have a good selection and good prices.
If you’re concerned about quality, North Face and JansPort backpacks are manufactured by the same company. So, if budget is an issue, you may want to look at JansPort backpacks, as well. Although I will admit that I like the look of the North Face backpacks better.
Also, if you are a Costco member, there are some pretty nice-looking High Sierra backpacks on sale in store and online for only $15.99. They look pretty well made, and with Costco’s return policy, you should be able to get a refund if the backpack doesn’t hold up. Northface backpacks imp are much sturdyer than jansport. That said, it’s really a personal choice about what you want.
My kid just wanted the biggest one she could get in cubic inches.
It doesn’t have to be North Face (btw I got a nice North Face one at TJ Maxx) but I would look for one where the laptop sleeve bottom is cushioned and raised higher than the bottom of the backpack so your laptop never hits the floor when you put it down.
I just got a Northface backpack and I’m very very satisfied with the quality. It kind of depends what you need in a backpack though. Capacity? Size? Room for laptop? Will you fly often with it so that it should have lay flat and carry on features?
Agreed. It’s whatever suits your needs. Although deciding which bag based on brand sounds a little “First World problem” for me.
Personally, I like the appearance of the women’s pivoter backpack by Northface. The size isn’t too bulky looking and it has a sleeve for your laptop.
Yeah, figure out what you actually use your backpack for and go from there. Personally, mine is a less than 2 foot tall $10 bag with a single pocket off Amazon because all I carry to class is a pen and a folder with as notebook and a few papers. Occasionally my computer in a small light case. No North Face backpack would suit my needs.
First figure out what you need your back pack to do.
Do you carry a laptop? Then you need a laptop area.
Do you carry a water bottle?
Would you need to be able to stow a jacket in there?
If you want sturdy, check out Maxpedition. I got tired of buying two backpacks a year at the $40 level, so I paid just over double for a Maxpedition. It’s lasted through all of HS and is still going strong. S will be taking it to college with him.
Also LL BEan Backpacks…my kids got one in 1st grade and it lasted all the way through 8th grade…and they only changed because they wanted something more fashionable.
Hot shot. I had that. It’s functional, has enough room for storage, and stylish. (not bulky)
Get the one that holds what you want to carry routinely and don’t unpack often. You may find you will need more than one if one class have a substantial!y different size or configuration. Don’t get one to carry textbooks because they are expensive and persona!ized.
Look around campus and note how many bookpacks are unattended and look like many others. Don’t put anything in it you don’t want to lose or routinely haven’t with you. Much like you do for checked baggage, do something that’d makes them recognizable to you.
My first reaction was a blue one. Truly, however, I think a bright color would make it easier to find.
Don’t waste your breath guys:
