Right now Im looking at Middlebury, Colby, Connecticut College, Bates, Bowdoin, and Hamilton. Ive got a 3.7 GPA, 2090 SATs, 740 on the Math II and Bio Sat IIs, lots of interest in the sciences, AP Physics, Envisci, Spanish, and Math this year should all be As. Im looking for a D3 school to run track at (ive talked to a few coaches at the other school and they say with my stats they'll have some pull)
Any advice on some other liberal arts schools in the north (somehwhere cold) to look at? Preferably target schools... Im looking for schools not in a city environment with strong economics/environmental science programs....

Brown
SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (it is on the Syracuse campus..they might have a way to study econ at SU...but DI track)
Allegheny

There is also a less science-based but more common major called environmental studies.

I was thinking about visiting Amherst and Williams but Ive already got so many reaches I like i dont know if I should bother... I really liked the set back campuses along with the community at the schools, particularly Conn College. If you have any info on St Lawrence University, Franklin and Marshal, or Hobart and William Smith in terms of there academic quality/campus life in comparison to the schools like Middlebury, that'd be great too!

How important is it that the college offers environmental science, as opposed to environmental studies? Only a few colleges offer environmental science, so it is a constraint.

Hey guys thanks for all your help so far...

The importance of an environmental science program is not high at all if an environmental studies program is offered either as a major, interdisciplinary program, or minor.

And about conn coll, I have visited in the past and the strong point there seems to be the students to me - they all seemed super nice. The only thing that worried me a little bit was the sports teams and how exclusive they seemed to be. Could you comment on that?

my best friend was on the soccer team so i hung out with them a lot, they were the nicest group of girls and they were always so welcoming to me. the sports teams do hang out together, but its definitely not exclusive- for example, when my friend would throw parties, yes, there were soccer players there, but there were just as many non athletes there too.
they primarily stick together for eating, because they're all on the same schedule, but besides that, theyre not cliquey.
