Which OA Trip?

As the days draw nearer to August 21st (170 Days approx) OA adventures must be on the minds of the accepted and the hopeful. Which trip do you think you will take and why?

D went on the Catalina trip and absolutely loved it! It included swimming, biking, camping (cooking and cleaning included), and kayaking.

hey, i went on the catalina trip, and i liked it, but i only heard good stuff about all of the trips so i don't think you can go wrong. my only piece of advice would be to be realistic though, and don't lie to yourself. even though oa was a great experience, i should have acknowledged the fact that i'm too high maintenance to be camping on the beach for a few days. i wondered if i should have gone on the socal one instead, since that's probably the "cleanest" trip, but don't get me wrong, i still had a blast. if you have specific questions about any of the trips feel free to ask since i probably know somebody who went on it. but in the end i really think you can't go wrong with any of them, it just depends on what floats your boat. take care!

I really want to go on the Yellow Stone trip, but the LA one seems cool as well. I guess I have a bunch of time to think about it.

I think you mean Yosemite...I kind of like the community service one, and the catalina island one.

Yea that's what i meant. After 9:00 Pm my brain is kinda dead on the weekend

Short Canoe was the funnnnest trip ever. Short canoe is the less stressful canoeing. We just lounged around and sat in the hot springs all day and hiked and played games and talked and swam and jumped off cliffs and ate and it was just really fun. But like someone earlier said, all the trips are a blast. But short canoe is more fun. =)

Go short canoe! :)
Make sure you get on group B, not A like the person above.
Haha.

They're all really good

Don't listen to aleph, he was the only one to flip over in the river.. =D Short canoe A!

i know people that were on the short canoe trip and from what i hear its only fun if youre a really really really boring person. (sorry people above) so dont go.
anyways, i also went to catalina.....and it was pretty fun. kayaking, snorkling if you want, biking, beach volleyball, ice cream, camping, etc. it was pretty chill. a little bit of everything.

Kosuke sucks. Trust me, the canoeing trip is the BEST. List of things to do: water fights, CANOEING (duh), climbing, swimming, hiking, camping outside, hot springs, waterfalls, explore awesome caves, by the way it's on the Colorado River so it looks awesome, jumping off cliffs, skinny dipping if you're up for it, pudding chugging, floating down the river and just being awesome meeting new people.

You guys are the epitome of the nice Pomona student.....Haha. Thanks for all the help. I tought canoeing sounded fun. I may end up going on that one.

Hey all you people who were talking about last years OA trips... do you know if playing a fall sport would prevent you from going on them? Also, for all the kind of skill based ones, like sailing, surfing, etc do you have to already know how to do them?

Yes/No. You can still go but it's not to a trip that's far away (I was between Arizona and Nevada, I think!). You go to the Southern California trip (trips all over LA) or the Halona trip (camping in a cabin).

i'd have to go with sea kayaking. you get to go into caves, and also it's a good workout. plus the campsite was full of wild piglets, and we caught one of them, and it was BACON FOR BREAKFAST, baby! (j/k)

too bad when brother went on a southwest trip to moab for camping and rafting, the guys all chased after some wild cattle cause they were sick of the same food all the time. ...tsk

No adventure requires previous experience, but several do require you to be in good cardiovascular condition, and some trips may leave you mildly sore from repetitive motions such as paddling. Your choice should be tempered by a realistic assessment of your fitness level and background.
