I am a rising senior beginning to look at college applications, but I am unsure which of my scores I should send to colleges. I got a 35 on the ACT and a 2380 on the SAT. I think the SAT score is more notable of the two- but would it make a difference in admissions to send both rather than just one? I was just wondering what you all thought the best course of action would be. Thanks for your help!
What is the breakdown of your SAT score? What colleges are you looking at? Some colleges require applicants to send in both ACT and SAT scores. If you only want to send one, then I would send your SAT score. According to the ACT to SAT conversion chart, SAT scores between 2290 and 2370 convert to a 35 ACT. Your 2380 SAT score is slightly higher, making it convert to a 36 ACT score. Because of this, I would submit your SAT score if you aren’t required to send both and you only want to send either the ACT or SAT.
Here’s the ACT to SAT approximate score conversion chart: http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html
@shrimps you cannot go wrong either way. I would use SAT, it is slightly higher.
I think you should just send in both, as they are both nice scores and show colleges that you can do well on both tests. Your SAT is slightly more impressive though.
@LionKing2398 I got a 780 on CR, 800 on Math and Writing- thanks for your thoughts, I’ll look into the specific colleges more and figure it out, I guess
It shouldn’t matter. However, I think we all have either an ACT/SAT bias, depending on which test we’re most accustomed to. In my mind, a 2380 is more impressive than a 35, but only because I know how difficult it is to earn a 2380.
Technically, though, a 2380 converts to a 36 (according to the above users), so I would submit only the SAT. You definitely do not need to send both scores.
