Which of the 6 colleges...?

Which of UCSD's six colleges would be helpful to apply to if I wanted to pursue a future in journalism?

revelle, they have the most HSS GE’s.

But if u want to suceed, then u have to choose Muir, hands down. : )
your choice xD
Imo, stay away from sixth for now. They are pretty far from everything else and pretty shabby looking dorms… (cabins anyone?) Although I did hear they had some remodeling done for their res halls.

I suggest:

Muir - easy GE’s. muir and warren are kinda similar i think.
Warren - close to lots of important places
Marshall - near a lot of humanities buildings.
ERC - writing GE is pretty heavy,
Revelle - strict GE’s. old dorms..
Sixth -uh..newest college but kinda the worst in my opinion…went to Foodworks (the Sixth dining hall) and it was sooo tiny.

i love revelle, hands down no matter what everyone says about it lol

agreed here :)

yeah I think everyone ends up liking the college they’re at.

I don’t think it really matters which college u get into vzhang - just join The Guardian, The Triton, Warren Briefs, or some other UCSD newspaper and start writing for them.

Your college won’t really affect you beyond GEs and location. I would rank them as follows:

Muir
Warren
Sixth
Marshall
ERC
Revelle

IMHO

Muir
Warren
Marshall
ERC
Revelle
Sixth

Muir / Warren
Marshall
Erc / Revelle
6th

gahd…everyone has to hate on revelle, but as a journalism and non-science major, you would be taking math/science classes (even tho theyre for non-science majors)..so if thats not your cup o tea, id say go with muir bc it lets you take what you want and get on..me, i guess i like learning bits of every discipline too much so i dont mind revelle ge’s

I vote ERC because if you want to go into journalism you have to be a good writer. and our writing course is 6 quarters long… which is good for some people I think.

and isnt erc’s mmw about alot of world events and how things got to be the way they are?? lol..i think that might be important background for a journalist imo

i agree, that may be good. but anywhere youre going to take alot of writing classes, and can join the guardian and get involved. you just have to do a little bit more research of your own than youre used to in hs.

Honestly, it really won’t matter.. the difference will be a couple of classes you may or may not have to take.

But.. I would Sixth is the best (flexible GE’s, really nice apartments). Muir is good too.

Which college is good for Psychology majors? =]

i don’t want to start a new thread - anyone know where theatre/performing arts in general majors tend to be?
