So I’m a senior in high school with a 3.05 uw gpa and a 3.7 w gpa. I took PIB, AP, and honors classes my freshman and sophomore year and I took IB classes my junior year and I will be continuing with IB this year as well. My gpa has been stable throughout high school. I don’t have a legitimate excuse for my low gpa other than the fact that I tried to do the hardest classes with the IB program such as HL math. I got a 1400 on the sat and a 29 on the act. I’m involved in a lot of clubs and I volunteer a lot. I’m vice president of 2 clubs and I founded another club. I’ve also been a dancer my whole life.
I want to apply to
CU Boulder (in state)
University of Mass
University of San Diego
University of Illinois UC
University of CO Denver (in state)
Purdue
University of Washington
University of Wisconsin
UT Dallas
UC Irvine
Michigan State
What are my chances to get into these schools?
May depend upon your intended major. Overall, this is a reasonable list of eleven target schools & you should expect 5 or more acceptances.
UCI only uses 10-11th grades for their GPA calculation and the UC’s have very specific criteria for weighting classes. Here is the GPA calculator. https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
A UC GPA capped weighted below 4.0 will be a tough admit. UCI will be full pay as an OOS applicant so make sure $65K/year is affordable.
Your GPA will also be an issue for USD with an average of 3.9. Your weighted is near the 25th percentile but you do have a better chance than UCI due to your SAT score.
Best of luck.
I plan to major in neuroscience or cognitive science. Possible molecular biology or psychology as well
Then Univ. of Colorado at Boulder may be the best school for you.
Are there any out of state schools on my list that I would qualify for?
These are reaches or out of reach:
University of Illinois UC
University of Washington
UC Irvine
No financial aid at the UC’s for OOS students BTW.
Do you know any small private colleges I can apply to that has a good neuroscience major and I can possibly get accepted into with my stats?
@turtlesss I gave you some ideas on your other thread. I think UMass might be a low reach. Also, you probably won’t get much if any merit there.
Is there any way I could get into university of Wisconsin Madison?
