Which of these is most impressive in YOUR eyes? 800 math, 800 cr, or 800 writing

Reading this thread kind of dispels the pride I felt on getting a math 800. I mean, I share it with 9500 people, most of whom will apply to the same places as I will.

As for CR, well a 770 seems decent I guess. The 750 in writing sucks though.

I wonder whether giving the SAT more than once matters. Will commitees view the fact that I gave it twice adversely? 'cause I am thinking of it giving one more shot at it .

Where did this person get the stats for people scoring 800s? Is there any way I can find more statistics on this (such as the total number of people who gave it, people who scores 800s in SAT2, etc).

According to you'll, which is the best SAT 2 800?
I think literature, some people say math 2c but its kind of a pushover.
I got 800 in both (plus in chem too) :) but I had to work for the literature one (unlike the others, which I just went and gave after 2 practise pprs).

an 800 in sat 2 is definitely easier to achieve, as you can make many more mistakes.

Wow, abhi, your scores are really impressive in general, and especially for someone with English as a second language! (I'm assuming it's your second language since you're in India.)

In answer to your question, here's some data from collegeboard:

thanks a lot

but these are 2006 entering stats... what about 2007 stats?

Hmm, can't help ya there. Try browsing around on this search page... maybe change the search terms a little. Lol I always use google 'cause CB's site can be hard to navigate when looking for those PDFs...

edit: Found the subject tests one.

edit2: Composite.

The hardest section is <insert only="" section="" that="" son="" daughter="" scored="" an="" 800="" on=""> because my son/daughter is a unique and beautiful snowflake!</insert>

critical reading because it was my worst score. my other two were pretty close to 800.

I would 100% say 800 in CR. My friend got that on his first time. Definitly my weakest section..

And in the math section, you can get a number of questions wrong and still get an 800. I don't believe that's the case for CR, or at least not as much.

Its the other way around. Missing one in the math section is never an 800, while missing 2 in CR usually is.

800 no doubt about it.

math, a lot of people can get 800s, it's like middle school level math. and for writing, a lot of colleges don't even care that much about it because it's the new section and collegeboard hasn't worked out all the kinks, so it's not the best indicator for them. that and you can still get an 800 even if you get two 5's on the essay, if you get the multiple choice right (which is easy).

wow, sorry, that was stupid. i meant to say "800 CR no doubt about it."

WoooHooo!! I just got 800CR!!

I am so psyched!

Yeah, I just 800'd the Writing.

Funny, that was my worst section originally. Definitely the easiest to prep for.

800 CR is definitely the hardest.

800 W can be attained with no prep
800 M, of course, is an absolute joke, especially since I just learned 3% of asian people get it
<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SAT_CR_mathematics_writing_percentile_ranks_gender_ethnic_groups.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SAT_CR_mathematics_writing_percentile_ranks_gender_ethnic_groups.pdf</a>
But 800 CR… You either need to prep some or read a ton of good books, like my friend who just got it.

Depends on where you're applying.... If your'e thinking tech school they won't care about your reading...

I got 800 CR without prep, but I didn't get 800 M

As a future math major I should be castrated.

800 CR and Writing! :DD

I think I just got a 800 writing with pure luck.

i'd say reading.

I read A LOT. not those comics, but actual reading like classics, literature etc. Yet, i still only have 710 where others are really high. i mean i always choose the second best answer! Sure, English being a second language/speaking Chinese at home hinders, but by that much?

Now i feel really bad about my 780 math....i've never gotten past 780 in math. even though i had 800 in SAT II lv 2, and 5 on calc...BLEH.

oh and 800 wr is pure luck, and i'd say its easiest to get 800 on, if people actually cared about it more. i spend 1 month studying an English grammar book. score went up from 670 to 800. got none of the MCs wrong and an 11 on essay.

Exactly kiwikimo. The fact that people get less 800s on writing than the other subjects is because no one preps nearly as much for it. Between may and october I didn't do any prep for it and I went from 680 to 800. On the other hand, one match question wrong and your looking at a 770 or 780, and reading just has more difficult and subjective questions than the other sections.
