I am currently a sophomore looking to transfer to a SUNY school. I am a biology major, with a pre-health concentration, with hopes of becoming a Physician Assistant soon. I have completed 33 credits so far, and as of january I would have completed 52 credits. Last semester i had a 3.73 gpa and made the deans list, while with my summer class i just completed I have a 3.37 overall gpa. I have taken around 5 AP classes in high school, had over 500 hours of community service and a state award for excellence in community service. I was in the top 30% of my high school with a 3.4 gpa also.

I plan on applying to the following:
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Oswego
University at Buffalo
University of Albany
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Oneonta

What are my chances for these schools? or any other schools i should possibly look into transferring to?

Is it really that difficult to transfer into a university in the spring as compared to the fall?

Stony Brook would be great for you, perfect for the sciences. I don’t know about chances but your GPA seems competitive. Check out each schools website to see how your stats compare and it’ll give you a better understanding of your chances.

Which PA programs are you interested in and in which part of the state would you be looking to work. Stony Brook is the SUNY best known for its science programs but it might not be your best choice if you wanted to end up working in western NY for example. Have you been looking at the PA programs at the various SUNYs, such as this description of the Albany program?:

this is only for my undergraduate degree and then i would have to apply to a masters program for my degree for a pa. I know stony brook is a good school and all but i hear that it is so hard to get into it and that is what worries me with my grades. I also heard about the albany early assurance but i don’t know if you can transfer into that, i have to contact them.

Your grades are not that bad at all for SBU, especially since you’re a transfer student. Go to SBU’s website and compare the transfer averages. I think you’re on track.

Early assurance programs are difficult to get into, at least a freshman. Contact them regardless.
