My school only lets a student be president of 1 club. I am in 3 clubs: key club, NHS, and DECA. I am currently Vice President of Key Club and I was Editor my sophomore year. I want to go for president, but I am conflicted because I also want to be president of DECA. I am the only junior in DECA who has been a member for more than 1 year and I have qualified for states both years I have participated, so I feel like I’m quite likely to get it, but I’m not completely sure. Then there’s NHS, which I was considering going for a smaller officer position like secretary or treasurer, but NHS is full of kids who probably vote on popularity as opposed to quality. I believe I am most likely to get DECA president and second most likely to get key club president. I was thinking about going for key club president and DECA vice president or a smaller position.
Will colleges discriminate between these clubs? Is it going to look better for me to be an NHS officer vs a key club or DECA officer, or better to be a DECA officer, etc? I enjoy being in DECA and key club about the same, and am very involved in both clubs.
I think it is much better to be pres. of DECA, because Key Club and NHS are very general clubs. They’re just volunteer clubs really. I think you should stay VP of Key Club if possible and run for office, as previously stated, in DECA.
