I am majoring in Chemical Engineering. I am from California. but I consider Iowa state because I heard it is easy to get scholarship/grant in Iowa. I also want to experience living in the midwest =)

I just want to make sure if It is worth it going to Iowa State instead of San Jose State.

I would assume SJSU is a better school for engineering, but I don't really know anything about Iowa State. Since you are from SF you are probably aware of the quanity of engineering companys in the bay area. Honestly, the proximety of SJSU to silicon valley probably makes it better than schools ranked higher in terms of getting a job right after graduating. With all that said I have no clue if there are chemical engineering jobs here.

They're probably on a equal footing, but SJSU, as oxypunk said, does very well with recruiting because of its great location. I would go with SJSU for that reason.

I personally don't think it is worth paying more for attending Iowa State even if Iowa State is a doctoral institution while SJSU is a MS-only school. Also, SJSU has many connections with Silicon Valley companies which helps with getting jobs.

I would say SJSU cuz i live in San Jose
the campus is pretty nice and the weather here is REALLY great all year round!! almost never rains!!
a friend of mine took a couple classes there his junior and senior year of highschool, and said it was not bad.
I been there a couple times for math and robotics competitions, the place is open and warm i guess.
And there is definitely more opportunities here than the Iowa for engineering!!

Since your profile says you live in San Francisco you owe it to yourself to drive 50 minutes and check out the school and area for yourself. You are right in saying SJSU is not the most spirited school, but look at how many schools it has to compete with opposed to IOWA
