Which one is better?

I wanted to get some opinion on the ranking of the following universities (and which one is the best for business administration/Marketing)

University of Washington, Seattle
Northeastern University
Purdue University

And how much chances do i have for getting into UW if I have been wait listed?

Thank you so much!

Northeastern probably has the most prestige. I don’t know anything about the business/marketing programs at any of them though.

There is no objectively correct answer to “which is better.”

Have you been accepted to Northeastern and Purdue? (You stated you were WL at Washington).
Have you received financial aid packages?
How much will each cost to attend (after scholarships/grants, but before loans)?

NEU’s business school is universally well ranked (19th on Bloomberg). I don’t know UW or Purdue well, but Bloomberg has UW 52nd and Purdue 57th.

Another factor is where you might want to live and work post-graduation. If you want to be in the northeast, Northeastern will have more name recognition, Purdue will have more recognition in the midwest, and Washington will have more name recognition on the West Coast.

  1. Wash
  2. Purdu
  3. Northeastern

“NEU’s business school is universally well ranked (19th on Bloomberg). I don’t know UW or Purdue well, but Bloomberg has UW 52nd and Purdue 57th.”

PengsPhils, your statement is not accurate. To be “universally well ranked” means that all the rankings (or the ones that matter anyway) rank the program well. According to the US News business school rankings, NEU is ranked #62. That is not bad mind you, but it is by no means “well ranked”. Most people consider the US News Business school rankings more reliable than the Bloomberg ranking. According to the US News ranking, Purdue and UDub are tied at #21 in Business.

All three of those universities is very good and well regarded. I would not worry too much about “prestige” or rankings since they are all very good, and equal, in those regards.

I would go with cost of attendance (Purdue and UDub are significantly cheaper than NEU). If cost is not a concern, then I would go for fit.

@Alexandre‌

Thank you for the correction, for some reason I assumed that US News was in line based on misremembered prior research. My bad :frowning: I would also second the go with cost and fit sentiment.

If you calculate (tuition, fees, room, board) - (scholarships, grants), how much does each cost?
Which do you like best and why?
Then the experienced adults here can discuss ROI/value for you.

@harvardandberkeley‌, yes I have been accepted to both Purdue and Northeastern
As an international student, I did not receive financial aid from both the university.

Thank you so much for the comments. I will consider the cost and fit sentiment between Purdue and Northeastern
