Which one is better?

So I've signed up for all my classes but I'm not sure about what I should take.

For now, I am sure that I am going to take:
Chem 1a
Math 16a
German r5a

However, I don't know if I should take:
1. Two 2 unit classes (EPS 39a and geog c82)
or
2. One 4 unit class (philos 12a)

Both would add up to 15 units but would that be too much? I had originally planned to take only 13 units but I don't want to be behind or unprepared for spring semester. Which one would be a better choice?

We would need to know more about your chemistry and math background to give good advice.

Well, I would say that chemistry is my favorite subject. I received a 5 on my ap chem exam. However, that was because the teacher was really good. It was also 2 years ago so I do not know if I will remember anything. I also heard that chem 1a is hard so I don’t know.
Math… I hate math. I took BC Calculus senior year and got a 3 for both BC and AB. I think math is my worst subject. This is why I took 16a instead of 1a. I think I will do ok but only if I work hard enough on it.

If math is your worst subject, you might find Phil 12a difficult. Though it isn’t a math class, it is sort of mathematical in style. If I were you I would opt for a 2-unit class.

Thank you for the reply! I just chose it because it fit in my schedule and was a chance to fulfill a breadth requirement. But I guess I’ll be taking two 2 unit classes then.
Is my schedule for next semester going to be the same except it will be filled with b classes?

I thought you meant one 2-unit class. Two 2-unit classes is probably going to be as much work as one 4-unit class, I would imagine. You might consider just taking the one 2-unit class, that would give you 13 units. Or find a 4-unit class that is a little easier and meets a breadth requirement, if these 2-units don’t.

Oh, so I guess I should just take one 2 unit class?
I don’t really know which courses are “hard” and which ones are “easy” so I don’t really think I can find one like that and have it fit my schedule. Hmm, would music classes be good? I guess if I can’t find anything than I can just take 13 units. I just don’t want to fall behind since I do not have much (if any) ap credit.

Chem1A is easy. If you got a 5 on the AP exam, even if you took it two years ago, it’ll come back to you pretty quick.

And Phil12A is math-y not in the algebra/calculus sense but in the upper-division mathematics sense in that it’s ALL about proofs. Proofs up the wazoo.

Just go with one 2-unit class. 13 units is fine for your first semester; you’ll just have to compensate for it somewhere down the line.

Ohh, thank you all very much! I’ve decided to just take the 13 units then. I really hate proofs… especially if its up the wazoo. :0
I’ll keep EPS 39a instead of geogc82 since it seems way more fun.
THANKS!
