Which one should I do this summer?

Aside from 3 weeks participating in programs, I am currently deciding what internship to do this summer...
I have an environment and Spanish focus...
SHOULD I:
-do research at a university like once a week (with an environmental sci professor?) The only thing with this is I probably wouldn't end up really doing anything REAL. it'll just be another tedious internship position. but i could probably use something for my sci fair entry. and i do some enviro research through sci fair/etc.
or
-interpret at a local Hispanic pediatric clinic 2/3x/week (this definitely sounds like the more fun of the two...)

but which looks better? don't tell me to do what I enjoy, right now I just want to know what "looks better" and i'll weigh in what i want/what's convenient later.
rising junior.

I can’t say I know why your restricted to just one. If you schedule it right just do both.

But honestly the clinic seems better. But I suppose it depends on what your planning on doing as a career/what major your shooting for.

The big thing about EC’s is accenting your interests, passions, and other nonsense reflected in your App. So if you want something in medicine and you represent that in your essays then the clinic looks good, but if your looking for Enviro research as a career then do the former.

It’s a bit dependent I suppose.

They’re both pretty far, and I don’t want to have to take public transit too often :
I’m not interested in a career in medicine but I am very interested in Spanish& Hispanic culture…
I’m also also interested in environmental research though, so idk.

what’s preventing you from doing both?

Mostly that they’re both far^
Is it really necessary to do both? Because like…I’m also volunteering with an environmental lady in my community this summer. In addition to 2 programs (not that long but still). Last summer I did a LOT of stuff and I feel like it was unnecessary and I could’ve been relaxing/studying. I sorta wanted to focus on the SATs this summer.
Will it look bad if I do the pediatric clinic even though I’m not interested in a career in medicine? More so…the language. I love interpreting~

Actually you guys make a pretty good point now that I think about it
:stuck_out_tongue: I’ll see about that, depending on if my mom lets me take mass transit that much or not >_> she’s pretty iffy on letting me do it once a week (its sorta sketchyyy), but I think I found a way to get around mass transit for the pediatric clinic.
But from what I can tell, a LOT of people on CC do research. Do you think the interpreting would be more unique?

CC is faaaaar from a representative sample. I know exactly 0 people at my high school that is/has been involved in research at a university or similar. I do know two people who I met over the summer who did do research in California (where they live) but it’s not quite the most common activity for students to be doing.

Of course the main point behind this should be accenting your interests/goals. Either thing that you do sounds as if it will be quite interesting in its own right and I don’t see a clear winner if your interests lie in both of them.

Of course when you take into account “what you enjoy” then it should be easier to make a conclusion but at this point both seem like invaluable experiences depending on which route you end up pursuing.

Lol I’m doing the hospital thing since it’s more fun and my mom wont let me take sketchy public buses :stuck_out_tongue:
Ah well, I guess enviro research isnt in the cards for me this summer.
