I am ready to buy a computer for next year but have one problem... I don't know which one. I really like MacBook pros but I am not sure what size is perfect and how much memory I would need.

My plan is to get a 12"-14" laptop for the portability. However, I do plan to bring a 20" (or so) monitor to keep in my dorm room for when I need more screen space and quicker navigation.

As for memory, 4GB is probably sufficient, but this depends greatly on your needs.

Liking macs doesn’t justify getting one. What do you plan to do with your computer?

I think that the 13" MacBook Pro is the better choice, as it is easier to lug around, and the newest versions have better processors. 2GB of RAM seems to be sufficient unless you have lots of applications open and running simultaneously. If you want a bigger screen, you can always purchase a larger desktop monitor for your room, and that will probably be cheaper than the extra cost of a 15" MBP.

Im not sure what i am really going to with the computer. A lot of typing of course. But i am going into pre pharmacy/pharmacy field.

Do yourself & your family a favor and wait until AFTER you’ve figured out where you’ll be attending and what computers they may recommend. Models will be upgraded & get cheaper while you wait.
For my kids, both both heavy laptops. Both had their machines stop working & replaced them with might lighter netbooks. Nowadays, computers often break down. Be sure it is purchased on a credit card that provides a FREE extra year of warranty. Also, if you’re a Costco member, consider buying it there to get two years of warranty as well, which will give you a total of three years warranty coverage.

Don’t buy a laptop until you absolutely need it. Even that occasional 30% discount you see now will not be worth it due to the rapid deprecation of computers.

Yea, our kids bought their laptops maybe a week or two before going off to their colleges, so they could set up the software & download all the stuff they wanted from their home desktops. Even tho they waited as long as they could, neither computer lasted their undergraduate years, but we were reimbursed for the cost of each by CC company insurance.
