I want to sign up for the first session so I can get the classes I want, but I hear that I'm supposed to sign up for the third so that I can get my AP scores before I choose my classes... The main test score I'm waiting for is my AP Calc BC score, with which I can skip the Math placement test and maybe even a couple math classes. The problem is, I don't really want to sign up for the third because I might not get the classes/professors I want. Is there any other solution, or am I stuck with having to go to the third one?

You can always change which classes you’re enrolled in after you get your AP scores, if necessary.

Oh really? That’s good … But what about the math placement test? I’m pretty positive that I got a high enough score that I would be exempt from taking the test. Can I just choose not to take it at orientation? And if for some reason I don’t get the score I expected, can I take it at another time after orientation?

I have the same question

If you told your Counselor that you got a 5 on the AP test they would let you skip it. If you end up getting a 4 or 3 you would need to adjust your enrollment accordingly. I’m not sure whether you could go back to a later orientation session and take the test, but it’s offered twice at the start of the fall quarter.

Since it says no registration required, I would guess that you could take it at whichever Orientation you wanted to, assuming you could make it to campus two days in a row (for the results on the 2nd day).
