Which path to take for an Economics Major?

At my school the only difference between a BA and BS is that a BS goes through Calc II and III and adds on either an advanced microecon class or a advanced macroecon class, that's it. I heard that it doesn't matter whether you major in BA or BS but I also heard that you need to take as much math classes possible as an Econ major. Will employers look at my transcript to see the extra math classes I've taken or is it irrelevant and that GPA is more important?

Thanks.

BS/BA doesn’t really matter. Rigorous classes vs. non rigorous classes. Employers won’t know. Econ is econ. They will just look at your resume and say oh so you are college educated. What else?

Differentiate yourself with skills and experiences.

Taking an extra math class or advanced econ will only help if you plan to go to grad school in econ. But employment purposes, they won’t know the difference.

Okay thanks. Would a minor in applied math or math matter or would I need a double major in order to make a difference?

I don’t think it would make difference unless you planning to go to grad school in Econ.

Take some accounting/finance/programming classes. I think those are better choices. Learning new software especially the ones that you will be using in your future job would also be a big plus.

I would concentrate less on the classes you take (just do well whatever to take) and concentrate more on networking, gaining experience, and developing skills.
