I bought Kaplan today, and was wondering if that is a good idea.
If not, what should I have gotten instead?

I always recommend not preparing for the SAT. It completely defeats the purpose IMO.

Do you have the official study guide? because that book is a must. I suggest buying Rocket Review or a Barron's book to learn and study tactics/grammar/math and to practice, and then using the official practice tests to see where you stand (and for more practice).

There is a search button. Search for "The ultimate for sat prep books"

^Yeah, I'm tired of newbs starting prep book threads without looking around.

Best books I got were Cracking the ACT for strategy, then 11 Practice Tests and the College Board book of tests.

I hope you're joking...

Haha.
10 char.

No, not joking. Those books helped me tremendously.

EWWW

I bought Cracking the ACT after I ran out of tests, and I regretted not returning it immensly. The lines in the grammar section were BADLY misprinted

Anyone who recommends PR books should be considered a troll on this board.
