Which prep solution is the best for my child?

All,

My daughter is gearing up for the ACT test. I need your advice. Which ACT software or online prep solution is the best? There are so many options out there (e.g. Kaplan, Princeton). It is very confusing. Just to reiterate, I am not looking for books. My daughters preparation platform of choice is computer based training.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

With much appreciation,

I used Grockit and found it fun and helpful.

The Boost Your Score software is really good. I think it is from Advantage Test Prep, but it is available on Amazon. I think it is under $20. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the Red Book, so you would have to buy that too. Hope that is helpful, I haven’t really used it much, because I am so much more paper-based, but if you daughter likes to use the computer, it might be great for her. Hope that helps and best of luck!

Grockit and Boost Your Score both look like excellent solutions. I may very well purchase both as they are very affordable. Thanks for the feedback!

I used Boost Your Score with my kids. Although the software doesn’t really do much that you can’t do on your own, it does it more quickly. You put in your answers from the ACT Practice book tests and it scores you and tells you what percentage of each type of question you missed.

The ACT free Practice Test changed this year and I emailed them and they emailed me an updated version of the program. Money well spent, IMO.

p.s. I had never heard of Grockit. Do today’s high school students get the reference?

EarlVanDorn,

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and purchased Boost Your Score and 1296 as well as the Red Book. Real time update on my daughters interpretation of what Grockit means. Quite simply, she had never heard of the term and is certain it is not a real term! LOL

Thanks,

I’m not getting the Grockit reference either–I’ve managed to confuse myself with my own term, lol

I think they are refering to <a href=“Kaplan Test Prep”>Kaplan Test Prep. They also posted a pretty long series of videos here: [Grockit.com - YouTube](<a href=“Grockit - YouTube”>Grockit - YouTube)
