Ok this upcoming summer(2007) I have many options I'll be considering and I was wondering what the majority of you think would be the best option for someone shooting for Yale undergraduate school?

Option
1. Summer school at my prep school religion/speech so I wouldn't need to take them as a sophomore. Plus full time job at walmart.
2. Northwesterns summer program 3 weeks(complete honors geometry so I won't take it sophomore year) and then speech at my school. Plus work at walmart full time after the summer program is over.
3. Summer camp counselor at a Girl Scout Camp
4. Work at Walmart overtime

It is still summer 2006 yes i know but i have to consider these options early because some of these apps r due in november of this year.

So pls let me know which number would be the best option for someone trying to go to Yale and which would be the worst. Please don't say just do what I want to do because they all sound great to me so I need to know which would look best to Yale. Could you please give me a reason why you chose the option you chose...thanks in advance!

Northwestern, because then you can bump yourself ahead in math and work at Wal-mart. Mostly because almost all competitive applicants do geometry by freshman year.

well at my school we take algebra II honors freshman year and discret math-honors/precalculus 1-honors and geometry honors sophomore year. So i won't necessarily get ahead I just wouldn't have to take so much math sophomore year.

Ah, I see. I still think NW's program is better, mostly because I don't know if Yale would care about religion/speech class, so taking math over the summer would probably sound better.

I heard this one story about this one girl who went to MIT, and hadn't taken AP Calculus yet.

^ those are pretty rare cases.

I'd pick the second one because it's better to advance in the math class and keep the easier religion/speech class during the year, plus you still get to make some money.

Wait, we've still got like 2 months of summer left, and you're planning for next year already?!

With that said, Northwestern's program looks like your best option but its very expensive. If thats no problem for your family, then you could do that. But, I think personally I'd stay home and look for a summer math class that is doesn't cost an outrageous amount of money. Just my 2 cents. (haha, I'm feeling clever with puns;))

^ heh, actually 1 month left. It's two days til the end of July. Summer passes so quickly!

Wait, I go back September 27th. Do you guys go back in August or something?

i only have a week left of summer vacation because i go back to school in august and northwestern offers financial aid for their program and its not to far from where i live.

OO September 27th? That's like, almost October! Does your school end in July or something?
