Pick the schools you like. That’s the best advice anyone can give you.

Why no SAT IIs ?? Most of the QB schools require them, or the ACT with writing.

This was a great thread about one student’s strategy for ranking schools, especially if your stats are a concern to you, but really makes many very good points:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/questbridge-programs/1537703-letter-your-fellow-quest-scholar-about-prestige.html</a></p>

Hi there! Have you thought about taking the ACT? I got the same score as you on my SAT, but I ended up doing a lot better on the ACT (I got a 30). You might find the test to be easier, so I think you should try both tests. Also, if you want to send SAT scores, most schools want subject tests as well so you should definitely take those.

Just apply to the school’s you really want to go to. Think about what you specifically want out of your college experience and then research the partners schools to see which is a best fit. For example, if you really want to go to school in a city, schools like Williams probably won’t be a good fit.

^Good point. I think the last ACT date for QB is done now, though. Not sure if she has time to take subject tests.

Marissa, at this point you can only rank colleges that are test optional or don’t require the SAT II’s. Check each college’s match requirements at the bottom of this page: http://www.questbridge.org/for-students/ncm-college-match-process</a>. I totally agree with others here ^ and strongly suggest you take the ACT in October. If you do better on the ACT then you’re done, no need for SAT II. It might take a few tries to get good (enough) scores on at least 2 SAT II’s, so ACT is really preferable. In another thread you mentioned applying to Yale but you can’t rank Yale with no SAT IIs. So, find and research those colleges you can rank with no SAT IIs, that’s an important task right now !

Looking for something else in my QB file I found this list of schools that don’t require SAT II: Bowdoin, Colorado College, Grinnell, Scripps, Davidson, Emory, Northwestern, Oberlin, Stanford (SAT II recommended), Chicago, Notre Dame, USC, Vanderbilt, W&L (SAT recommended), Wesleyan. SOme are test optional and some accept either SAT or ACT but don’t need SAT II. Check these to make sure they are current!

Hey guys I just want to update you and let you know I was matched with UVA! (SAT IIs were strongly recommended but they looked past that :D) Thanks for all your help @honeybee63‌ @Rathination‌ @peace1231‌ @badpundit‌ (:

I’m so happy for you @Marrissa!!! That is awesome   :). You see - it’s true - scores aren’t everything, and in some cases they aren’t anything lol! Have you visited Mr Jefferson’s college yet ;)? That part of the country is so beautiful. The blue ridge mountains, the Atlantic Ocean for vacations, historic Williamsburg. You must be so happy

I also got matched to Trinity but they were lower on my list. Thanks so much no I haven’t visited I can’t afford it but maybe they have a fly in program I’m looking into it :D. The campus is so beautiful <3 I’m just so happy they looked past the tests and saw that I’m a really hard working person and just want to succeed. Yesterday was the best day of my life!!

omg that is terrific, very hard to get in oos I hear. But how can you also get matched to somewhere else. I though there was just one match to your highest ranked college and it was binding (with just a couple of exceptions.)

LOL @Marrissa that Trinity admissions officer must have been more than a little embarrassed! I wonder if you were the only one who got the wrong call… (I saw your post on FB senior support)

@BrownParent, Marrissa doesn’t mean she was also ‘matched’ to Trinity, you can only be matched to one college. Marrissa found out that Trinity had also accepted her but because UVA was higher on her list of ranked colleges, she was matched to UVA. Usually QB tries very hard not to let us know of any but the actual match college.

@Marrissa, Congratulations!! UVA has perhaps the most generous match package of them all, and it is a wonderful (and extremely selective) university. Enjoy your senior year now, but work hard, and establish some connections at UVA with other Quest scholars before you go. You’ve earned something very special.

@badpundit‌ thanks so much!! Will do! (:
