Which RC class?

I am an incoming freshman to Cal. I just got my AP scores and recieved a 4 on the English Literature and Composition exam; my Telebears appt. phase 2 is coming up soon and i have to sign up for a Reading and Composition requirement. my major is molecular/biochemistry, if that makes any difference. There is also something about an A course and a B course which i do not understand. if someone could clear that up for me that would be great. Are there any suggestions as to which R & C i should take? Thanks in advance.

Your 4 on the AP exam gets you out of rcA. Look for a writing rcB (it's just a higher level) to sign up for. A lot have already been signed up for, so you very likely will have to wait for second semester to roll around until you can sign up for your class. Best of luck,

TTG

A further question: Are all R&C courses the same in terms of workload/difficulty? (E.g., would R1B in the Film Studies department be as hard as R1B in the Rhetoric department?)

I understand that the thought-content will differ from class to class--History R1 will focus more on history, while English R1 will focus more on literature--but I wonder if some courses are more intensive than others.

easier ones: scandinavian, slavic, german, etc. asian am is supposed to be a little harder. rhetoric, history, english are supposed to be difficult. a few of my friends were taking rhetoric, and they were essentially writing those cookie-cutter AP english essays ("____ effectively argues _____ with his ____ use of syntax...").

asian american studies r2 series is pretty good

but then again, so is the german r5 series...........i learned philosophy in my class!
