I'm taking the June 14 test so I don't have too much time and I was wondering what book I should get to study that has good strategies and isn't insanely complicated. I already have the Real Act book, but I'm just using that for the practice tests. Any help would be appreciated.

also, I thought ACT for dummies was pretty good.... that's the other book I bought after the red book.

thanks so much!

Cracking the ACT, best one by far.

Get Kaplan. Skip the tips that they give you and jump to the practice tests. Yes, they are harder than the ACT exam but you need this book so that you can learn why you made a mistake on a particular question or Math problem. Remember - the more practice tests you do (under real time constraints), the better ACT test-taker you'll become.

Get PR's Cracking the ACT. This book will teach you all the tips you need EXCEPT for the Reading section. It's seriously dumb and I doubt those who are struggling with this section can improve by using their stupid strategy. But overall, they have solid strategies which will re-enforce what you've learned from Kaplan. Do the practice test again for the same reason above.

Get Real ACT. Worthless tips so don't bother (besides, you'll learn 20% of the strategy from Kaplan and the remaining 80% from PR). The important thing here is that after doing all those 5 or so practice tests from the previous two books, you'll find out that these retired ACT tests are a piece of cake (and you'll be glad Kaplan and PR's practice tests are a bit harder)!

EDIT: I know these are three books but you still have about a month 'till the exam. Sacrifice that one month for a possibly rewarding future.

The thing is, I also have three SAT subject tests to study for and finals so I don't know how well I'd be able to get through two books.

SAT Subject Tests: SparkNotes Online Study Guides & Test Preparation
all your SATP needs ......... i hope that was what you asked for, and this site for school isn't that helpful, but for math it is good.
High School Ace

I prefer Barrons for ACT math & science.

What is the ACT "red book?" please

Red book= Real ACT book

thanks! :)
