Would you rather have a 770 Math II and Physics 750
or a 730 Math, 670 Physics and 600 Chemistry

Here's the deal...4 days left, im attempting to self-teach myself chemistry so i can take the SAT II's. Those are my predicted scores if i average my time out to either 2 tests or 3 tests.

What do u think UC's will prefer?
1. 770 Math IIc and PHysics 750 or
2. 730 Math IIc, Physics 670, and Chemistry 580

Also some side questions
1. Do UC's recommend 3 SAT IIs, i know you only need 2.
2. Does USC require/ recommend 3 SAT Subject tests (I can't find this info)

Well from what i’ve read, UCs only require 2 SAT IIs (if one is math it has to be IIC) and USC doesn’t require SAT Subject Tests (you can find the info in the FAQ section of the website). USC will lookover SAT II scores if sent, but it won’t reject a person because of their SAT II scores, since they were never required in the first place, so SAT II tests can only help you in USC applications.

With UCs however, admission is very competitive esp. in Berkeley and UCLA. They only require 2 tests and they will take the best scores of your SAT IIs…meaning that if you were to take 3, they would just take the 2 highest ones in whatever subject areas. I would suggest you take just the 2 SAT IIs Physics and Math II and get high scores on it, than jeopardize all 3 scores because you want to take a an extra SAT II test that is not required, not needed, and will just take time out of your study time for the other two tests.

Schools also recommend that SAT subject tests be taken from different areas of academia meaning that if you took Math I and Math II, since it’s from the same area of academia, they are not really considered as 2 SAT II Tests and you might need to take a third test. Physics and Chemistry are both science subjects and therefore would be considered the same. If you want to send 3 tests then take a foreign language SAT or SAT Lit etc.

Basically people who take Physics and Chemistry either take it earlier on, and have time to take more SAT IIs or are not sure which one they’d do better on…so they try both and since the college will only take the best score out of the both of them, they just need one to be higher than the other. In your case a 750 on Physics is far better than a 670, and your 600 won’t be counted anyway since it’s a science subject.

DOOD I ****ING LOVE YOU!!! I HOPE YOU WIN THE LOTTERY…i was actually hoping some1 would say something like this. Thankx

ANy other people have a second opinion?

***?? lol that was really really random! haha. i’m applying to similar schools as you and USC is my first choice…so good luck on your app! if you need any help or questions..i can try answering them…i know the USC website like the back of my hand by now lolz
