Which SAT II Tests should I take/some general questions? New to the forum.

I am trying to decide which SAT Subject Tests I should take in May and I have a few questions.

What is the main difference between the Math 1 and Math 2 tests?
Which of the 2 math tests do colleges prefer to see?

Which SAT Subject Tests should I take?
-I am currently taking AP Calculus AB but I feel my background math, especially in Pre-Calculus, is not very good.
-I LOVE Chemistry and am in Honors Chemistry right now.
-I am in Honors English, AP US History, and Physics.
-All of these classes I am taking at a competitive private boarding/day school in NC.

I don't want to just take the easy tests, and I know none of them are EASY, but I really need some good scores on them. Which ones do colleges like to see and which ones fit in with my curriculum?

Thank you for the advice in advance!

As a very general thing, colleges like to see whatever you can do well on. I would say take one in math, one in humanities (english, history, or foreign language), and one in science. Since you love chemistry, maybe you should take chemistry. As for math, try Math 2. Pick up Princeton Review's SAT Math 1 and 2 book and Barron's math 2 book and look over everything. If you're a math person, you should be able to understand the Pre-Calc stuff. As for humanities, maybe USH since you're in AP.

thanks for the advice!

Math Level II is seen as better even though it is easier to get a high score because it has a really nice curve. I would recoomend to take the Chem one in June because you seem to like Chem.

I'm taking Chem in June to try to get 700+ after badd bio grade =)

APUSH has the same exact curriculum as the SAT II.
So just prepare for AP and you’ll be ready for the SAT II.

I would definitely agree with Chem and U.S. History. Are you a soph or a junior? If soph, just take those two and don’t worry about the others yet. If you’re a junior, I’d still recommend taking those two (U.S. History in May, Chem in June) in the spring and then over the summer looking at the SAT II requirements for the colleges you’re interested in. If you realize you need or want another test, prep for Math II over the summer and take it in October.
