which SAT score to submit with Score Choice?

Hi,

I am applying for the University of California Schools which allow score choice. However, I wish to submit my application in the next few days before the servers go down soon due to overload.

On the application I am required to put down an SAT score, which I did, and marked that I took a test but have not received scores. However I just took an SAT this Nov. and I am sure I scored a couple hundred points higher compared to my old one. Since I would have submitted by application before the Nov. 24 report comes out which score do I send? If I score lower I obviously would send the score that I typed on the application prior. But If I score higher am I required to send my lower score that I typed in AND my new higher score? Or do I just disregard my lower score that I typed in with the application? Thanks! Ask for clarification if this is too confusing.

Put your current score on the application. Send your new score when it comes out. The UC will use your highest single-sitting SAT in evaluating your application. (The main effect score-choice is having on the application process is it is causing even more stress for applicants.)

If you list a score on the application, official scores supporting that should be sent. To list a score and not send it would imply a mistake on your application.

Even though one score will be significantly lower than the higher score I should submit both correct? Will this affect my chances of admission since I submitted two scores ( one lower and one much higher ) because other people will have only submitted one score? Thanks.

UC uses your highest single sitting score in admissions. I see no reason to doubt this clear statement and there is nothing to support the assumption that those submitting only one score using score choice have any advantage at all.

Your only other option is to submit your application with no scores and wait to see your new score before choosing which to send.

Additional note: You should probably look up UC the campuses you are applying to on the College Board website. [College Search - University of California: Los Angeles - UCLA - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=992&profileId=6) All of the UCs I have looked up do NOT allow score choice.

thank you very much for your help. I have decided to send all my scores even though one most likely will be far lower than the others since UC will choose my highest score anyway.
