Hello, my son is interested in astrophysics as a major and is interested in UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego and San Diego State University. He will be seeking a safe school as well over the next month.
He took the SAT three times, with the main goal of boosting his essay and reading/writing scores (with math being his strong point):
First: 1230 (Math: 650; R/W: 580) Essay: 4/4/4
Second: 1310 (Math: 690; R/W: 620) Essay: 4/4/5
Third: 1300 (Math: 650; R/W: 650) Essay: 6/5/6
As you can see, he bumped up his total, essay and R/W, but the scores are not very straightforward. While he did so much better on his essay the third time, he somehow did worse in R/W. UC’s like to see all scores, and my thought would be to suggest he just send them all, and let them figure it out, as it does show he improved for the most part (they will pick the highest, so the other two would be used as reference). SDSU seems to be pretty solid as they super score – and don’t even consider essay portion.
Anyone have any other suggestions on how to approach this?
