Hey CC could you guys help me choose a schedule ..... or does it not matter?

****** note ap CS is online

Senior year - planning to major in CS
AP Calc AB
AP Comparative Govt
AP Computer Science
French 4
College Writing
(Elective - Maybe Psych I & 2 (non AP)

Or

AP Calc AB
AP Comparative Govt
AP STAT
French 4
College Writing
Yearbook (I can't change this because of schedule conflicting)

Do they even make a difference? With one I take stats the other I take comp sci which I want to major in.

It won’t make a difference for college admissions. If AP Computer Science is online, why can’t you take the second schedule and AP Computer Science at the same time?

@halcyonheather
Afraid I won’t be able to handle it.
I could but it seems like a lot of work that I won’t be able to handle… I might change my mind though.

Would be more advantageous to get mainly A’s and maybe one (or maybe 2) A-'s?
or going the hard route and having lower grades with maybe a B+ or B in the mix?

I have a pretty solid gpa (3.9) but I don’t want to topple over senior year.

What do you think? I mean I could learn Java over the summer and take AP computer science and finish that 3/4s within the year.

You might want to check with the schools you’re interested in applying to. Perhaps they accept AP Stats but not AP CS or vice versa, especially for a CS major. Otherwise I’d say it’s a wash - go with whatever you feel more confident in getting good grades.

@TheMotion - It really depends on what schools you want to get into. Look at the schools on your list and see which credits they’ll accept. If the schools primarily accept one but not the other, pick the class that they accept credit from.

I’ve been turned off from online classes ever since I took French 3 online this year.
I think I might just go with stats because it’s with a teacher.

@stbemtpynest
All unis im interested will accept both and they are worth the same amount of credits

@observeraffect
Thanks observer

I have a question though… would you guys say it is advantageous for me to take up AP comp sci right now in high school so i’m not far behind in university?

I’m not quite sure if I’ll have enough motivation to get done with the class within May for the AP test :
Kids that took it before me struggled to finish.

ANOTHER QUESTION:
Do you guys think my schedule is rigorous enough to justify not taking a Science?

Gosh, you guys, you can’t just determine attractiveness from appearance. These schedules have feelings and personalities, too! You guys are so so vain.

jk I like the second one better. There any reason you don’t want to take science?

It depends. How familiar are you with OOP? If you’re not familiar with it at all, then do you know any programming languages? If you know something, then you’re fine. If you know nothing, then you should take it. You could probably bust the whole class out this summer (learn all the content) through YouTube tutorials, so you can just use it as a study period in the fall/winter. If you want to major in Comp Sci, I’d assume you enjoy coding and programming, so it wouldn’t even feel like school to begin with.

@mrnephew
I don’t really want to take a science because I did bad in Honors chem… well that not bad (B+) and i didn’t find an interest in it… same goes for bio but I liked physics.
My counselor + teachers assured me that I would be fine without a science… crap what should I do?
I hate Chemistry… my phys. teacher advised me that ap physics might be a lil difficult for me ( I did well in honors physics A in both semesters but the class is easy if you have a good memory because each test has 3 test days A test B test C test so you have three chances to take it)

I have only taken three sciences… Honors bio, honors chem and honors physics

You have a year of bio/chem/physics. You are covered. No college is going to turn you down solely because you did not take AP Bio. Any of your proposed schedules is totally acceptable. Take whatever interests you.
