I am currently on a leave of absent at UCSC.

I decide to go to a community college for the next year and apply for transfer afterwards.

The reason I decide to go to a community college is because it is easier to transfer to other UCs, but I also want to try some private universities.

My question is, which school do I write I attend to on my private school application?

I believe if I write that I belong to a four year university it may look better, but I don't want the admission officers to think negatively of me because I wrote down UCSC instead of the community college I currently attend.

You’ll have to provide both school’s information on the application. Or at least, you will end up disclosing you’ve attended both through your transcripts.

Most applications ask for a list of all institutions attended in reverse chronological order starting with the current (or most recent). By the time you get to my age, you have to write in “see attachment” because they don’t leave enough space!

In your case, you should write something like:
XYZ Community College, 6/2009 to present
UCSC 9/2008 to 5/2009
