Which school do you think it's up-and-coming?

topic

10 char.

university of rochester ------ must be one of the rising schools!

i think a lot of the LAC are up and coming. Grinnell for one.

I think a few of the big state universities are becoming more popular- especially with out of state kids. As admissions become more competitive and tuition prices are sky-rocketing, schools like Indiana, Georgia, Ol' Miss are grabbing some very talented out of state kids who want a fun college life with good academics without breaking the bank.

Rochester? Not really...rankings have been ~the same for the past 15 years.

Northeastern and American come to mind; two great, but underappreciated schools that are finally starting to come to light.

Yeah, HeavenWood, you're right, but it was the past. Rochester got a new president last year, so you can't predict the future ranking of Rochester based on its past.

MomofWildChild, you hit the nail on the head.

I'm going to Tennessee and it's becoming very popular with out of state students. Most of the one's I've talked to are from Maryland and Illinois.

Rochester has a looooong way to go. A yield rate around 19% will take a while to address.

Northeastern is a good one, though.

For the yield rate, they got a record high number of responses this year. Although it doesn't mean a dramatic increase, it does indicate they do try to work on their acceptance rate and yield rate. So Rochester is not AS BAD AS you think!

northeastern

University of Miami.

uc davis?????

U of Georgia seems to be becoming a lot more respected.

UGA, American, New College of Florida, Tulane...

Whatever school each poster has elected to attend. Dartmouth in my case. I predict people all over the world will soon know as I do that it's about to take over every honor accorded to HYPSM.

amina, I definately second that U. of Miami is getting much more selective, and thanks to its generous merit packages it grad some very talented students. And thanks to football it gets good name recognition.

I'm not bias, i actually turned UMiami down.

University of Delaware is coming off their most competitive applicant pool ever. I think they're an up and coming smaller state school.

I would say some NY schools are getting some good rep. URochester and SUNY Geneseo are climbing up the ladder a bit...

As the spread in cost between private and public schools continues to grow, I think SUNY Geneseo will become increasingly more respected and known as a place with top students with a more intimate private college feel to it, similar to William & Mary.

Miami University seems to be on the rise
