Which School Has A Better Sociology Program?

My prospective major is in Sociology and Ethnic Studies. Which University is better for this major, Cal Poly Pomona or Cal State Fullerton?

@EssentiallyAlly Honestly I have no idea about CPP’s program, but I’ve heard complaints about both Cal Poly campuses allocating more resources to engineering and tech than other programs. This is understandable as they are polytechnic schools. My husband received his masters from Fullerton in Sociology and raved about the fanstastic professors.

As an undergrad, you’re not really going to a “program”. In fact, more of your classes will be outside the sociology department - fulfilling general ed and divisional requirements - than will be inside. There will be so many other things that contribute to your education - like career services, libraries, your peers, extracurricular activities, food, the residence halls, etc.

That’s one reason why there aren’t really rankings or comparisons of undergrad major strength (aside from some professional fields). Most good, strong schools have good, strong majors in most of their fields. Both CPP and CSU-Fullerton will have good solid sociology majors, although as mentioned above you may find at a technical school that more resources and focus go to technical majors.
