Im going to visit San Diego in a few months and plan on looking at USD, UCSD and SDSU. Can you rate the 3 schools from best to worst in your opinion?? Also Im from out-of-state so will be hoping to get as most help with tuition as possible.

You can expect very little to no help with tuition as an out of stater at the public schools (UCSD and SDSU). The best chance of aid will come from USD, as it is a private school.

but aside from the tuition problem which school do you think has the best location and atmosphere? ive kinda excepted the fact that im gonna be buried in loans, lol.

^ Being buried in loans is a bad thing. A very bad thing. Could you post some more stats?

i currently in a community college, looking to go into international business…3.36 overall gpa, but its been gong up every semester…i didnt take SATs or ACTs in high school, where i also didnt get the best grades…USD seems to value diversity, so im bilingual (Russian) if that helps

Are you a California resident? If not, I would broaden your search significantly.

non - resident

It never hurts to take a look at schools when the opportunity presents itself, but I wouldn’t really count on one of those three. As it is, UCSD is the best school but will be prohibitively expensive OOS.

What state are you located in?

im in ohio

I agree that San Diego is a lovely area. But going deep into debt in order to live there for 2-3 years as a struggling student is just not worth it, especially given the enormous cuts in funding from the state to the two publics.

The tuition problem trumps everything else.

Each of the schools has different strengths.

SDSU has the lowest tuition, big time sports and a great business program, especially international business. It offers just about any major you can think of, and has an extremely large student body. Location is several miles inland from the ocean.

UCSD doesn’t have big time sports teams. It is highly ranked in all types of engineering and science. It is divided into smaller residential colleges, each with its own focus. It is located between Torrey Pines and La Jolla, on a cliff over the Pacific Ocean.

USD is the most beautiful campus of the three. It is a private, Catholic school, with inter collegiate sports teams. It is located on a bluff overlooking San Diego’s Mission Bay.
