So out of the six schools I'm applying to, I can't decide which ones are my top few choices. Maybe you guys can help me figure out which one would be best for me. I'm applying to:

-University of Arizona (in-state) (physiology)
-University of Tennessee (Honors College) (sports management)
-San Diego State University (finance)
-Chapman University (EA) (business)
-Loyola Marymount University (EA) (finance)
-University of Miami (EA) (business, might minor in sports medicine)

My main concern is which of these schools will best prepare me for medical school: the ones that have medical schools? the more difficult universities? the ones in bigger cities with more internship/volunteer opportunities?

I'm also Jewish; would Chapman and Loyola be strange choices, since they are affiliated with another religion?

I'm planning to do Pre-Med with the major listed above and a minor in Spanish. Scholarships will obviously be considered, but money is not the most important factor to me.

I've lived in Los Angeles and I absolutely love the SoCal area (if that helps)

Thanks!

also, I’d really prefer to get out of AZ haha.

There are Jewish kids at LMU…Doubt it’s a big deal.

If I remember correctly, you need a lot of financial aid. You have schools on your list that probably won’t work out financially for you…like San Diego, UTenn, and LMU because they don’t meet need. I don’t know if Miami meets need either.

Do you have a 0 EFC? What are your most recent stats?

you need to consider schools that will be financially affordable for you.

Bigger problem is the small percentage of “health” related majors accepted to med school. Google around for % accepted from what majors. Might want to rethink physiology and sports management.
Also, relative attended Chapman when it still called itself a college- no sense of it being particularly religious.

0 EFC but I have enough to pay for whatever school I attend (inheritance)
this isn’t a question of what my chances are or what kind of financial aid i’d get; i’m just wondering what school would fit my needs best and where i’d be the happiest :)

Ahhh…

Glad to hear about inheritance. Do you have an auto 0? Is that why your inheritance won’t hurt your EFC? Are you certain?

Anyway…since money isn’t an issue now (thankfully), then apply to wherever you want.

ANY decent school that is strong in the sciences can prepare you for med school. Major in whatever you want and take the recommended pre-med courses…generally biology classes, general chem classes, organic chem classes, physics and calculus classes.

Do you have enough inheritance to also pay for med school? If not, don’t spend too much on undergrad. It’s not necessary to pay $50k+ per year for a private when you can spend $20-30k at a public and achieve the same goal…getting into med school.

What do you want in a school outside of academics? Sounds like you like sports…so do you want a school with big sports to watch?

yes i’ll have enough for medical school too. and i would prefer a school with more things to do and sports to follow, but not enough to the point that i’ll be too distracted to get good grades.
