Which school is best?

Hello,

Currently I go to school in a big city on the east cost that doesn’t have a campus feel at all. I want to transfer because I want more of a campus feel and a community. I am from the midwest and applied to transfer to two state schools near home, both with undergraduate business schools. However I was also accepted into Tulane. Financial aid is not an issue but I am hesitant to give up my top-30 school for the big 10, which is pushing me more towards Tulane (albeit a questionable reason). I would be majoring in finance and I really like the small size of Tulane, but I am wondering which would be best.

You said you wanted a more campus feel, yes? Tulane being in a big city may be a big issue for you then. Did you apply to your flagship state school? If so, typically there are great opportunities for internships and the whatnot in honors colleges. If your main reason for transferring is a campus feel then transfer based on that, not prestige or ranking.

Did you visit Tulane? Though it is in NO, a big city, it isn’t a city school like GWU, NYU, BU, Pitt, as examples. But it doesn’t have the bucolic campuses like UIowa, UMinnesota, etc either.

Tulane is in the garden district of NOLA. Lots of great campus space. Best of both worlds - access to many city amenities and quiet tree lined grassy campus. Students at Tulane rank among the top ‘happiest’ students if you believe in the lists that are put out each year.

Which schools are involved ?

I assume that you are currently a student at NYU. If so, NYU Stern finance is among the top undergraduate finance programs in the country.

UMinnesota is hardly bucolic, it is in Minneapolis.
