I do not thing there is a diff. between UG w/Med. School or w/o, Chances of getting into any Med. School later are the same. D’s UG state school does not have Med. School, which did not lower her chances. It is important to be happy in UG, feel that kid belongs there and if Med. School is in plans, then high GPA is a goal. GPA=3.8 is very reasonable, but he will have to work hard, it will not happen all by itself (as some top HS kids envision). The same could be said about decent MCAT score. 33+ will not just be there for you, it will require enourmous effort.

It seems that it is easier to get to Med. School IS, even to private one. D. had 2 rejections - both OOS and 2 waitlists - one IS, one OOS. She has been accepted to only one OOS Med. School (private) and is considering it along with some IS Med. Schools
