Out of six UCs I applied into (UCR, UCM, UCI, UCD, UCSC, UCSB), I only got accepted into UCM and UCR. My major for UCM is Computer Engineering and Science and my major for UCR is Computer Science. Which is a better school for the computer majors?

I would go to UCR. It actually has a decent engineering program.

Oh yeah, is UCR’s Computer Science BS + MS major is good also for UCR or its more challenging than just Computer Science in UCR?

UCR has a good engineering program, especially for Computer Science. One of my friend’s uncle, who works for the big companies, took a look at computer science majors at UCR because they actually got the skillls they need for those big companies. Because the engineering department is small, you could interact well with the faculty members.

The BS + MS program is really hard though because you have to do all the difficult works in 5 years.

How long does it take to graduate?

Four years (8 semester or 12 quarters) if you take full course loads, plan your courses to fulfill prerequisites on schedule (don’t change major late), do not need remedial courses, and do not fail any courses.

However, at less selective schools, typical graduation times are longer due to more students needing remedial courses, failing courses, or taking light course loads due to not being able to handle full course loads.
