northeastern or boston U.

wow, what a generalized question. If you want just a really simple, basic answer by using rankings then BU is "better" (BU is ranked 57th in the nation by US News, Neu is ranked 98th). You really need to give more information like what major you're going into to get a personalized response. Neu has made great strides in the last 5 years, but if you want to know which school has more prestige and is harder to get in to, it's BU. Going on some of my friends experiences and online numbers, you have a better chance of getting merit aid at Northeastern over BU while Boston University is the better choice for need-based aid.

I don't know much about the academic difference, but having gone to BU for a summer many years ago, I can certainly speak to the layout. BU is basically a very very long row of buildings stretching down either side of Comm Ave, with a subway train going through the middle of it. It spans at least 3-5 train stops. Advantage: taking the train from one end of campus to the other for $2. Disadvantage: It can be a daunting walk.

NEU has much more of a campus feel because it's more of a cluster (with a subway line through the middle, and another subway line bordering one side). We're known as a "12 minute campus" because you can for the most part get from anywhere to anywhere in a 12 minute walk. I also think our landscaping is better (...and more expensive...), but I'm biased and haven't seen much of BU in the last few years.

sorry im going into business

NEU recently ranked 26 in the country by Business Week for it's business program. I don't know where BU ranked, but it wasn't higher than that.

To compare the two schools you must look at a variety of factors, some of which jenlip spoke to. One factor that you must consider is the co-op program - that in itself sets the two schools apart. If co-op is something that interests you, then of course NEU is the better school (ranked #1 in cooperative education). Another statistic not mentioned is the acceptance rate, BU is 58%, NEU is 39% - NEU i.s becoming more selective each year
