NYU Stern

Wash U

UF

U of M

UW

haha no way UF is definitely last. unc/stern/washu/michigan a toss up then wisconsin and florida

fish i dont think florida is harder to get into than michigan or wisconsin. i have many classmates who got deferred from michigan and wisconsin but got in florida. Also florida is a huge school so they take more kids in general.

My 2 cents.

The OP's question is bogus. You cannot answer with the information provided.

If you are just a BWRK, they're all equally hard. If you have a hook it depends on what hook and what school.

Now, my question: Why in the world would someone ask such a question? The OP could easily have looked up admit percentage in any college guide. Heck, a quant could develop a nice complicated equation with published data. So what?

newmassdad, first off, chill out! haha. it's just a question that I had. First off, I don't think anyone on this forum would say those schools i named are all equally as hard to get into; to say it's equally hard to get into university of florida and university of north carolina or nyu stern is crazy. 2nd, i never mentioned a hook or anything. and 3rd, admit percentage is not always a reflection of a university's selectivity. Sometimes it does, but that isn't always the case.

ie. university of chicago's admit rate is around 40% but its applicant pool is self selecting. Also state schools tend to have higher acceptance rates b/c well, they are state schools.

All I wanted was the advice of fellow college applicants who may have had experience with those few schools.

"All I wanted was the advice of fellow college applicants who may have had experience with those few schools."

OK, but what are you going to learn? You don't know the full record of those others. This year, the formula (e.g. Mich) may be different. And so on. And so what.

My real point is this: No one really knows what school will be easier or harder for any ONE student. Like real estate (ha ha), each student is unique. So the question, as you originally posed it, is impossible to answer.

Now, the question you most recently asked is more realistic. Why didn't you ask that? you might have gotten some real information. But maybe not. Most of last years kids have moved on.

You ask for my opinion and then immediately say how you think it is.

University of Michigan is famous for accepting out of state applicants in greater numbers whereas UF gives more prefrence to in state students. The stats of those admitted are also very similar at these schools. How can you so immaturely say "haha no way UF is definitely last"?

There's a huge difference between Stern and UNC.
They aren't even in the same ballpark-Stern has an average SAT over a 100 pts higher and a higher gpa.

Those stats are misleading because we're talking about which is harder to get into out of state. For OOSers UNC has much higher averages.

Bull. Show me that out of state at UNC is a 1500, because thats Sterns SAT. they aren't even comparable.

quakerman, the unc admissions rep told me the out of state sat range for unc is 1300-1450. I think stern is around there maybe a bit higher but no way the average sat for stern is in the 1500s.

it is. the average is a 1440. For out of state it is above 1500. No one puts UNC in the same boat.

nyu is a private institution, they don't differentiate between out of state and in state.......

nyu isnt a state school so why would it be harder to get into out of state...........i was actually under the impression that it was harder for nyers

thank you hmanx
