Which school is more prestigious?

I am not a prestige freak, but we all very well know that prestige superficiality will give one an edge in job applications/grad schools. I got into four outstanding schools, and got waitlisted at the other two.
Here:
Rice (waitlisted)
Dartmouth(in)
Penn(waitlisted)
Duke(in)
Cornell(in)
Emory(in)

I am debating between Duke, Cornell, and Dartmouth. Please rank these schools in order of prestige.

PS: I really dont wanna post my stats again, since you could easily figure them out yourself.

Umm this is the most blatantly superficial post I have ever seen, despite your own attempt at validation. For god's sake go to the school you will be happiest at.

amen to that :P

If you ask me Duke and Penn are most prestigious. But definetely go to the school you are most happy with or you'll most likely be miserable for the next 4 years.

Visit. Are you WASPy? Are you a partier? Do you like intellectual conversations, or do you prefer getting striaght to the point of things?

I have similar choices, I've narrowed it down to Duke and Columbia Fu, am wondering the same thing as you (superficial or not).

Duke Is Most Prestigious School You Got Into

agreed, Duke. but all of those schools are excellent and the "difference in prestige" is basically negligible. Go to whichever school you like best.

Oh, my god. What's wrong with Emory? Just because the school's name isn't as well known as Duke or Cornell does not mean that the academics aren't as good. AND GUESS WHAT? There are job opportunities GALORE in Georgia these days!
Since you're a prestige nut, go to Duke.

agree with that ^

Cornell has the most variety and therefore has the greatest chance of delivering all that you are looking for...

Besides its easily the most prestigious... hands down!

and yeah... GO VISIT!

What? No way Duke and Cornell are more prestigious than Dartmouth. On par perhaps. Although I don't see the appeal in Cornell at all personally, its way too big.

Dartmouth
Duke
Cornell

but thats just me. I would probably Most likely choose Duke among those three, but go wherever you feel happiest.

Slipper,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I was being slightly facetious with my post... these prestige posts are pretty ridiculous... of course Dartmouth and Duke are great schools.... you cannot really objectively measure prestige, plain and simple...

In the end... it matters what the best fit is for each person... you loved Dartmouth... I loved Cornell...

Hopefully Devil May Cry will find her dream school...

As others have said... she needs to visit the schools and get a feel for their different personalities...

Wharf

Duke is the best.

Go visit them and figure out which has the best feel. They're all excellent institutions in their own right, and the ranking isn't going to make a helluva lot of difference in the long run.

Besides, I hear it's really miserable in the summer in Durham.

no, Dartmouth is slightly more prestigious in terms of academics, Duke is overshadowed and more known for its sports to the average person. but really it doesnt make a difference because all those schools have excellent reputations and it really doesnt matter =P

In 10 years, your boss won't care, because he'll be a college dropout.

internationally, Cornell is the best. It has the best sciences out of the ivies. So if you go to Europe, Asia in the future, Cornell has the best name of the three.

London Times ranked Cornell 12th best US University.

i'm also debating between dartmouth, duke, and cornell. i was always under the impression that dartmouth was the most prestigious (duke being more associated with the blue devils). i also thought of duke as good "for the south", but then again, dartmouth could alternatively be seen as better known among New Englanders.

dartmouth = duke > cornell

just my opinion.
