I want to go to a biochemistry major and do the classes required for pre- med, but should I apply to Queens college or Hunter college for this. I live in Queens so Queens college is more convenient for me, but I hear that Hunter college is a better school for biochemistry major and pre med.
Stats? Any reason you can’t leave the city? Living at home during school?
No, I don’t want to leave the city
Would you have full funding for Hunter? What are your parents saying about paying?
Nothing is wrong with funding, I don’t want to go out of the city. I just want to know which schools is better?
Hunter and CCNY.
Also in the city and academically stronger, Fordham.
If you like health sciences, SJU has a good PA program, too.
The CUNY application process allows you to select/rank all 11 CUNY senior colleges. There is no need to select one or the other at this stage of the application process. It is one application fee and you can get accepted to all 11 or worst case, being rejected by all of them.
For pre-med, City, Hunter, Queens, Brooklyn College will prepare you for med school. City College has a Premedical Studies (PPS) is designed to prepare students for careers in medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, veterinary medicine, optometry and podiatry. You have to select a major since PPS is not a major.

Brooklyn College had two Rhodes Scholars (Zujaja Tauqeer [2011] and Eugene Shenderov [2005] ). Zujaja Tauqeer is finishing her D.Phil (PhD) at Oxford and will be heading off to Harvard for her MD. Eugene Shenderov completed his D. Phil (PhD) at Oxford and his MD at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. So, either Queens or Hunter will get you where you need to be as long as you get a high GPA and score respectable on your MCAT, etc.
