I narrowed it down to Boston College, Holy Cross, Providence, and Stonehill.

Which school should I go to? HELP!

I would say either Boston College or Holy Cross (unless you are considering scholarship or other aid at the other schools, but they're still great so you can't really go wrong)

I've known people who have gone to all the schools and they all like their school a lot

Academically, I think BC and HC are better than the other two

But that's just me! (I'll actually have to choose between HC and BC in the spring)

Holy Cross seems like kind of a strict school and uptight. I think Providence would be a better fit thats why I'm kind of leaning towards PC. Does anyone agree/disagree???

From best to worst:

Academics: BC, Holy Cross, Prov., Stonehill
Location: BC, Stonehill, Prov., Holy Cross
Sports: BC, Prov., Holy Cross, Stonehill

Seems like an easy decision to me (but that's just me)

espn said it - BC is the pick of the litter. Also, if you can get into BC, why not consider Georgetown?

I've already gotten into PC and Stonehill. I applyed regular decision to BC and HC. I'd rather go to PC than Stonehill so it's down to BC, HC, and PC. If I only got into HC and PC which should I choose?

My daughter is a freshman at Providence, and she loves it. She loved her first term -everything from classes to friends to dorm life to intramurals. There is a wonderful sense of community at PC and the city of Providence is great. She especially enjoys being a Friar and going to basketball games at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

My daughter has friends at PC who chose it over HC since they liked the city of Providence better than the city of Worcester. On the other hand, HC has a wonderful reputation that you just can not ignore and I am sure students also choose HC over PC. It really is about personal preference and fit. You just have to visit all the schools.

Have you been admitted to all the schools? My son has been admitted EA to Providence and he is waiting to hear from Stonehill which he also really loves... boy... is that a beautiful campus. The size of the schools you are considering vary considerably. BC is the biggest and Stonehill is the smallest. All great choices. Good luck.

wow easy, BC.

Sorry espn, but HC takes the cake for academics. The Princeton Review even goes as far as saying that HC is #12 in the country for "Students Study the Most."

This however is not to say that BC's academics are sub par. Because we all know they are incredible. Overall, I think it comes down to BC or HC. Providence and Stonehill are just a degree below these two.

I have actually heard that Providence is a more conservative and strict Catholic college and has parietals enforced in all dorms (this means that no one of the opposite sex may stay in the dorms later than midnight Sunday - Thursday, or 2am for Friday and Saturday). This is not done at HC or BC.

mooseman...HC is not stronger academically. Just because one college review book says students study the most doesn't mean it is a better school academically.

If you want to use one set of rankings, how about this:
HC is ranked only the 35th best liberal arts school according to USNWR.
BC is ranked the 34th best national university. (I think there are quite a few more national universities than liberal arts)

Like you said, I'm not taking a shot at HC, because their academics are very good. However, don't fool yourself and think that they are better just because one book says students study more.

I am curious... How do you know you got into Stonehill already? Only their ED letters are out? Are you a bball recruit there? Is sports another deciding factor for you?

i was also going to say it seems like quite an easy choice..

-BC's yield rate for Fulbright awards is the highest in the country along with many other awards..
-BC placed 11th in a ranking of national universities (published in Forbes Magazine) by the Center for College Affordability & Productivity, a research group in Washington, D.C..[18]
-BC ranked 34th among national universities in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges 2009" rankings.[20
-Study by Carnegie Communications in 2004 ranked BC 17th among national universities.
Princeton Review survey of top dream college BC ranked #6

these numbers don't mean that much.. but it shows the school is getting noticed

I have a cousin at Providence who says it is extremely strict. It is not Jesuit like Holy Cross or BC which is probably why it is different. Another cousin of mine went to Holy Cross and is a big time lawyer now (plus she's married to the chief justice of the supreme court). The academics at Holy Cross are definitely better than Providence. I would say choose BC or Holy Cross.

It may depend upon your intended major course of study & what activities you want to participate in during college. Without more information, Boston College is the obvious choice due to location, size, prestige & alumni network.

I know I definately want to do something in business. Probably accounting or finance

than you probably want to go to BC.. the school of management is top notch
