Ok so I am a virgnia resident and I have been accepted to both Umiami and Umich. I plan on majoring in kinesiology/exercise physiology and I understand both of these schools have an excellent program. Umich may be a little bit stronger however I got more money to go to Umiami plus its not nearly as cold up there. Also if I attended U miami I would be able to run track and cross country varsity for them, while at Umich i would just run club...so which one would you pick?

umich

.

UMich. More prestige, better location, better academics, cheaper (even though you "got" the money), etc.

UMich....no contest

For kinesiology - UMiami. UMich's program is not accredited and is a funnel for their football players. Outside of kinesiology though, UMich.

I think you have better opportunities at UMiami, less money, sports, great education.
Congratulations on your acceptances. =)

thanks for the advice so far guys, keep it coming, umiami is alot less money (id b paying 22 instead of 39 haha)

Convince your parents to pay for some travel or something else fun(with the money saved) and go to Miami.

i'd say miami, it's also smaller because it's private

UMiami... Because it's amazing.

kinesiology - UMiami......if you would have said another major i would've probably told you umich

whaa? i don't see it haha. Ann Arbor doesn't look nearly as appealing as Miami (or even Coral Gables), almost regardless of how you look at it.

I'm more fond of Michigan than Florida.

Umichhhhhh

UMich isn't cheaper, it's one of the most expensive public schools, OOS is close to 50 K. They'd both be about the same $$$
But still UMich

Er, 50k? No.

Tuition+room/board:
UMich - $36,939
UMiami - $40,562

So it's a few thousand less. In addition, look at the stats for the two:

UMich:
* Average percent of need met: 90%
* Average financial aid package: $9,317
* Average need-based loan: $4,686
* Average need-based scholarship or grant award: $7,883
* Average non-need based aid: $4,902
* Average indebtedness at graduation: $22,312

UMiami:
* Average percent of need met: 82%
* Average financial aid package: $24,674
* Average need-based loan: $3,823
* Average need-based scholarship or grant award: $18,286
* Average non-need based aid: $15,760
* Average indebtedness at graduation: $24,673

Then again, UMich might be less willing to give finaid to OOSers. At any rate, UMich triumphs over UMiami in most aspects anyway.

there's more money than collegeboard tells you. my father's friend's son robert goes there. out of state tuition, books, travel expenses, winter stuff, make it close to 50 K. UMiami also gives a ton of merit aid to attract better students, which can make it significantly cheaper.

I think Michigan is the consensus "better" school, but for me and, more importantly, you, I would pick Miami.

No by rankings, which is the only thing you guys in this website pay attention too, UMICH is better but when speaking of medicine you have to admit UMia is really good, and UMICH is more expensive since they dont give that much aid unlike UMIA

exactly mich i get no money at at all, miami already gave me trustee scholarship of 11k, 3k loan, nd 3k work money...so miami is far better for $
