Which school to go to?

I have slimmed down my options to UCR (U of california Riverside) and Cu Boulder...

Pro UCR
-In cali where I live
-close to downtown, beach, moutains
-close to home (meh)
-small school

cons ucr
-hot as ****
-still far from anything interesting
-boring city

PRO Boulder
-better academics
- super good city
-super liberal
-sports
-school pride
-close to moutains
-close to downtown (denver is dirty)

Boulder cons
-Might be too big?
-no oceans!
-big on parties

Is boulder's size overwhelming to a student from small schools?

is their reputation for partying that bad? Like I do like to party but im not some jocked up frat bro, is that like a problem?

Also I probably plan for law or grad school after, and I know the UC name is really good. Is the Cu boulder name also helpful to have?

bump ! ! ! ! !

Hello, anyone here?

What is your family saying?

OOS for Colorado will be expensive. Will your parents pay?

*Hi… I go to a public school in socal so here it goes

GPA: 3.35 (My csu GPA, took out electives)
State GPA: 3.41 (electives added)
SAT: 1790
SAT w/o writing : 1220

Im applying to

Reach
Uc Riverside
Uc Santa Cruz

Target
Sdsu
Uc Merced

Fallback
Sfsu
Csun

Honors
4 years of honorroll in school

Volunteer
Worked for ~250 hours at shelther
Worked about ~ 50 hours at summer camp

Clubs
Vice President of club in 10th grade, obtained over hundred members at one point

Thats pretty much it!*

What is your major?

I think if I were you, I’d go to Merced…especially if cost were a concern.

I have friends who attend Boulder, and it truly is reefer madness. That said, you seemed a lot more emphatic about your Boulder pros than the ucr’s. So from what I’ve picked up, and given you can afford it, I would attend CU.

My father lives in Colorado so price is not a problem. I do know its alot of reefer madness, but im from california its like nothing to me.

My family is supporting me on both sides, but id never go to merced its a horrible place

Just because your father lives in CO does not mean that you, yourself will be a resident. If you live in CA and you go to high school in CA, most likely you are a CA resident and NOT a CO resident.

Now if you mean you will commute to Boulder, that’s a different story.

merced its a horrible place

That is ridiculous. UC Merced is not a horrible place. It’s a new UC where everything is new and lovely. The school is small so it’s like attending a small private at a UC price.

And, you need to check on state residency for Colorado. You may not be considered a Colo resident since you live with your mom in Calif.

I know for a fact I get in-state tution for colorado, so lets stop with that.
