Which School?

Right now I am a junior in high school and I am looking to go into pre-med. I am wondering which shcool in Virginia(or around Virginia but preferably in) offers the best pre-med program and would give me the best chance to attend a top med school.
Thanks and God bless,

University of Virginia...and check out VCU's BA/MD Program..

Ya I know that UVA has a great reputation and all but what about size? Would it be better to got to a school like William and Mary or Mary Washington where classes would be smaller and I would get more one on one attention?

That'd be good for recs and make sure you get a decent amount of lab work and shadowing experience done.

Which one. I am not shure what college your talking about.

Oh sorry. I meant the smaller colleges would be good for that. Where do you plan to apply in VA?

Well, I am thinking about William and Mary, UVA, VCU, Mary Washington, University of Richmond and a few others but if anyone could give me some insight I would be thankful. If anyone could let me know how they grade and how competitive the programs are I would be most appreciative.

UVA is The house of learning in Virginia. Of course, if you don't like the bigger scence, William and Mary would be my second choice. I am from Virginia and I applied to UVA, W&M, and UR. Richmond is a small college in a big city. UR doesn't get the respect it deserves, and it is also private, which means you will be paying more, provided they don't give you scholarships or aid. W&M is a good school, but it is a hard-grading school. It has a high suicide rate with students, which can probably be linked to grading standards, but if you are level-headed and know what to expect, W&M would be a great school for premed and getting research opportunities. However, as I said, UVA is the place to go in Virginia. My first loser in the college-selecting process, Virginia has one of the finest public programs in the USA. The social life is great, the professors are world-class, but the science department is very rough in grading. I heard from a friend who graduated and is going to medical school that the premed courses were extremely trying; however, you are bound to find this statement is true regardless of where you go to college.

Thanks, all of this sounds good and what I keep hearing is go where you feal most comfortable and think you can get the highest grades. The only thing is I do not know where that is. Now i havent hear much about either of these but what about VCU, JMU, or Tech.
