I am interested in Social Work major...but also many other things such as Russian, Economics, and etc...i can't decide on which school I should apply to...oh well...sucks...i already did apply to Gallatin but now i am thinking about it again...
what do you guys think? by the way, which school is less competitive? competitiveness doesn't really matter, as long as i can study Social Work

Gallatin might be the school for you since you have a wide variety of interests and in Gallatin you get to design your own concentration.

As far as competitiveness is concerned, all schools are pretty competitive. CAS and Stern tend to have have higher SAT scores and GPAs than the other schools, while the School of Ed. tends to be on the lower side. Also Tisch is competitive if you are planning to be study performing arts...you've got to be pretty talented to get in.

I think you made the right choice with Gallatin, there is a school of social work, but in Gallatin you'd better be able to pursue the other interests you have.

Good luck.

When you say decent shot...is it 50/50? or lower?

KJ,

Given the complexities of the whole admissions process, I can't really quantify your chances, nor would it be proper for me to do so as I do not sit on the admissions committee, and thus do not have a say on whether you get the nod. All I can do is simply guage your stats and determine whether you are a competitive applicant, but its really impossible for me to quantify your chance of getting in regardless of your stats.

That being said, even though your stats are just a little on the lower end, I think you are at least in the running...ie you are a competitive applicant and have a real shot at getting in. But again, I dont know what the adm. cmte. thinks, so I can't comment on what the probability of you getting accepted is.
