I toured GW a couple days ago, and it has undoubtedly moved to my top choice. The only problem is that my GPA (3.48) is lower than GW’s average, which is somewhere around a 3.7, right? My SAT score is in the top 75% though, at a 2060. My question is: Since GW admits by school, is it significantly more difficult to get into say the Elliot school than the Columbian college? I applied to the CCAS and am hoping that the average for admitted students at CCAS is more on-par with my GPA, and their average is skewed by the more difficult schools.
I can’t say with any degree of certainty, but it’s always been my belief that the Elliot school is more selective than the Columbian college. I have seen and heard from plenty of other people that also hold this belief, so that should count for something as well.
If I had to venture a guess as to why this is so, I would say because GW’s International Affairs programs is highly sought-after and that would increase competition. However, I think the same could be said for it’s Political Science program, which is in the Columbian college, so who knows…
Thank you so much @NHuffer!
