Which schools do Occidental students choose between?

Hey all! I think this is an unusual sort of post on CC, but I made it to give an idea of the eclectic college decisions which my classmates make. I compiled this list after talking extensively with dozens of friends and classmates and a handful of alumni. These are the most common decisions in which the prospective student has narrowed it down between Oxy and _____. Oxy was chosen for better financial aid, greater opportunities, better community, stronger academics, and/or general unpretentiousness. Please feel free to ask me about any of these schools

In California
UCSB/UCSB Honors
UCSD
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UC Davis
Cal Poly SLO (Engineering)

Out of State

Very helpful. Great list of schools. I see a variety of urban, rural and top LACs.

How would the students define better community, if that was in reference to other liberal arts campuses?

Chapman Honors
LMU Film

Thanks for this interesting list @dhume98
Does that mean you had classmates that chose Oxy MAC over the 3 schools listed above?

If so, I’d love to pick their brain and ask a few questions. My S19 wants to do film prod. Oxy would be an academic match/financial safety.
