Which Schools Don't Count Freshman Year

hey guys,

I was just wondering if n e one knows which schools reweight GPA's and don't count freshman year. I heard that Princeton and UMich don't count frosh year, but I'm not entirely sure. any other comments?

All the UCs (Universities of CA).

JHU has pass fail for first semester.

UofM-Ann Arbor takes your unweighted grades from your academic classes in soph/junior year to compute your gpa

Stanford University.

The UC's do 'look' at Frosh grades, however, since those grades show up on the app. The UC's just don't use Frosh grades in calculating the 'UC gpa'. (Until recently, Frosh grades weren't even reported at all.)

Are we talking about freshman year of college or freshman year of high school grades?

I'm asking about freshman year of hs, sry for the confusion. Well i live on the east coast, so I don't think I'm going to be applying to any UC's, i kinda wanna stick around here lol.

anywhere else? i have about a 4.04 weighted counting freshman year and a 4.25 not counting it. pretty big difference

Try not to worry as much if you show a decent upward trend, most colleges are cognizant of this fact.

cal states

haha andrassy, I don't think you have much to worry about, my freshman weighted gpa was a 3.23 (.25 for honors, .5 for AP).

my freshman gpa is 4.07 out of 4.5 UW and 4.57 out of 5 weighted. its not bad but i know i can do better so i really hope a lot of schools dont count freshman year. (ps. the val is 4.5 UW 5 weighted..im #10)

10 out of how many?

Wow. The val. had perfect 100's on ALL AP classes?

Some schools do gpa's by % ranges.
At my school on a 4 gpa, a 4 is obtained by having an A+ (97-100) so you can get a 4.0 and not have a 100% average.
I've heard some schools do it for 95+ (A's) also, so that's where the 'perfect' gpa can come from.

Some schools have 90%+ as a 4.0; at least over here I've never heard of anything but 90=A 80=B 70=C 60=D <60=F.
